Blackfem is currently soliciting applications for 3 marketing interns. Below please find the position descriptions and qualifications.

Position 1 - junior Marketing Intern

  • Schedule: Monday-Friday, min. 2 hours per day

Position Summary:

BlackFem, Inc. is looking for a Junior Marketing Intern who is willing to enter this position at a time when our brand is expanding rapidly. The Junior Marketing Intern will report directly to the Director of Marketing and will be responsible for taking on a variety of tasks that allow for the successful completion of planned marketing programs. The successful candidate will take charge of the external communications wing of the marketing department. Their core responsibilities will include spearheading proposals and projects aimed at increasing our followers across social media and contacts in the journalistic world. We work in a fast-paced environment, so the ideal candidate is a self-starter able to function with a high degree of autonomy. Social media proficiency is a plus.

Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Submit ideas for experiential and established marketing programs designed to enhance and grow the company’s brand and mission awareness.
  • Lead and collaborate with brand ambassadors to create innovative ways to gain exposure for company brand and mission across social media.
  • Be available as a resource for senior marketing officials who need assistance with completing large projects.
  • Work closely with the Director of Marketing and occasionally other departments across BlackFem, including Fundraising.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • In the process of acquiring bachelor's degree (must be in college/university).
  • Ability to multi-task effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Be able to manage self and take charge of checking in with Director of Marketing when necessary.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to write clearly, succinctly, and aligned to the sensibilities and language of the target audience.
  • Strong written and verbal skills generally.
  • Experience with google documents, sheets, and slides.

Position 2 - Junior Marketing Researcher

  • Schedule: Monday-Thursday, min. 2 hours per day.

Position Summary:

BlackFem, Inc. is looking for a Junior Marketing Researcher who is willing to enter this position at a time when our brand is expanding dramatically. The Junior Marketing Research Intern will report directly to the Director of Marketing and will be responsible for taking on a variety of tasks that allow for the successful completion of planned marketing programs. The successful candidate will take charge of the research wing of the marketing department and can work collaboratively with marketing department officials. Their core responsibilities will include conducting research aimed at increasing brand awareness across social media and the world generally. We work in a fast-paced environment, so the ideal candidate is a self-starter able to function with a high degree of autonomy. Extensive research experience is a plus.

Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Submit ideas for experiential and established marketing programs designed to enhance and grow the company’s brand.
  • Participate in and/or lead the development of content that meets the needs of the marketing department and occasionally other departments.
  • Gather, analyze, synthesize, and organize data (quantitative and qualitative).
  • Ascertain relevant and irrelevant data when conducting analytical work.
  • Identify obstacles impeding project progression and offer solutions to them.
  • Summarize and synthesize important articles and reports on topics related to firm needs in writing and deck formats.
  • Be available as a resource for marketing officials who need assistance with completing large projects.
  • Work closely with Director of Marketing and occasionally other departments within BlackFem, including Fundraising.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • In the process of acquiring bachelor's degree (must be in college/university).
  • Ability to multi-task effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Be able to manage self and take charge of checking in with Director of Marketing when necessary.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills.
  • Strong written and verbal skills.
  • Comfortable with Dropbox, Google tools, Word/Excel/PowerPoint.
  • Strong attention to detail, self-motivated, able to set priorities and self-manage.
  • Strong problem solving and troubleshooting skills with experience exercising judgment.
  • Ability to develop simple data visuals, infographics, and pictorials.

Position 3 - Junior Marketing Content Editor

  • Schedule: Monday-Thursday, min. 2 hours per day.

Position Summary:

BlackFem, Inc. is looking for a Junior Marketing Content Editor who is willing to enter this position at a time when our brand is rapidly expanding. The Junior Marketing Content Editor will report directly to the Director of Marketing and will be responsible for taking on a variety of tasks that allow for the successful completion of planned marketing programs. The successful candidate will take charge of the content editing wing of the marketing department and can work collaboratively with both marketing department officials and other company employees. Their core responsibilities will include coordinating assignments by selecting, editing and positioning photos and videos in print and web publications. You should be able to create visual content to complement text in a creative way. Extensive photography and photography editing experience (including a portfolio) is a plus.

Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Submit ideas for experiential and established marketing programs designed to enhance and grow the company’s brand.
  • Be able to collaborate with photographers to decide on which photos and videos will be published.
  • Review photos, edit and make necessary changes.
  • Decide which images to send to Director of Marketing for final publication.
  • Ensure all assignments are shot and edited on time for publication.
  • Manipulate photos and videos to achieve highest quality using the appropriate tools.
  • Stay up to date with new image editing technologies.
  • Be available as a resource for senior marketing professionals who need assistance with completing large projects.
  • Work closely with Director of Marketing and occasionally other departments.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • In the process of acquiring bachelor's degree (must be in college/university).
  • Proficiency in Adobe Instruments, iMovie or other video and photo producing software and tools.
  • Comfortable with Dropbox, Google tools, Word/Excel/PowerPoint.
  • Thorough knowledge of computer imaging, photographic techniques, and color composition.
  • Ability to multi-task effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Be able to manage self and take charge of checking in with Director of Marketing when necessary.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills.
  • Creative mind with an eye for detail and storytelling skills.
  • Strong attention to detail, self-motivated, able to set priorities and self-manage.
